Norman
A. Katz
President and Founder of Katzscan Inc.
Norman is president
and founder of Katzscan Inc., a consulting firm specializing in
vendor compliance with technical expertise in Electronic Data Interchange
(EDI) and barcode applications (inventory control, asset management,
manufacturing, document management, compliance labeling, etc.).
After graduating from the University of Florida in 1984 with a Bachelor
of Science degree in business and majoring in Computer Information
Sciences, Norman worked for well-known companies such as Fotomat,
Tropicana Products, Hanes, and Gitano.
Starting out
as a programmer and working his way up, Norman was the information
technologies manager at two Miami-based apparel companies for three
years before the entrepreneurial spirit hit and he left to pursue
success with Katzscan Inc. in January 1996.
Norman first
worked with barcode applications in 1990, and began handling EDI
and vendor compliance issues in 1992. Soon, both specialties were
used at the successive companies where he was employed.
Today, Katzscan
provides barcode applications, EDI, and vendor compliance solutions
to companies in the top tier of their respective industries. According
to Florida Trend magazine’s July 2003 issue, Katzscan’s
publicly held clients rank in the top 100 public companies in the
state of Florida.
Using his programming
skills, Norman is able to drive Katzscan to success by addressing
project needs at the finest level of detail, the data itself, and
globally at the enterprise operations level. This dual-perspective
is greatly appreciated by his clients regardless of the size of
the project. With both technical and operational experience, Norman
has successfully implemented cost-efficient “surgical strike”
solutions to solve his clients’ significant business problems.
As president
of Katzscan Inc., Norman has aggressively courted and won clients
across a variety of industries, including: footwear, hospitality,
consumer packaged goods, and the pharmaceutical industry. Norman’s
varied experiences also allow him to accept and successfully complete
projects outside of Katzscan’s core specialties, such as ERP
selection & implementation projects.
Norman is a
guest speaker on EDI and vendor compliance issues, as well as a
published expert in his field. He is a member in good standing with
the South Florida Manufacturers Association, the South Florida chapter
of the Council Of Logistics Managers & Warehouse Education Resource
Council, Independent Computer Consultants Association, and Association
for Automatic Identification and Mobility.
